Responding to the need to prepare high quality, committed teachers for urban schools and learners, Dean Andrew Porter recently reduced the tuition cost of the M.S.Ed. degree programs in both elementary and secondary education from the standard $44,695 cost, based on number of courses taken, to a single-fee of $35,000 for the 11 course unit programs.
In addition, Dean Porter has tripled the amount of money available for scholarships for GSE master’s students, ensuring that 85% of our admitted students will be awarded scholarships ranging from $5-18,500 per academic year.
Graduates of the teacher education programs who take teaching positions in schools serving poor students may also take advantage of the various federal loan forgiveness programs for teachers and other public service providers.
These three steps make our full-time teacher education programs affordable and accessible to applicants seeking to become visionary teacher-leaders in schools and communities across the nation, especially those in urban areas like Philadelphia. We seek a talented, committed and diverse applicant pool of folks who want to prepare for a challenging and satisfying career in which they have the opportunity to help children, families and communities achieve their dreams through transformative education.
