The Road Ahead

PennGSE offers alumni – and soon-to-be alumni – much help and support in identifying the first teaching positions. From our close relationship with the University’s Career Services (http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/careerservices/) to our productive relationship with the School District of Philadelphia and other school districts, we are able to offer substantial assistance to alumni seeking to take the next step in establishing his/her own practice.

In addition, the Penn New Teacher Network is an opportunity to extend teacher learning into the first few years of practice. The Penn New Teacher Network is designed to support the intellectual and professional growth and development of new teachers. There is a similar group open to PennGSE alumni teaching in the Boston area which builds on our participation in the CETE consortium of small, liberal arts schools of education. Alumni are encouraged to continue their affiliation with PennGSE and the University, participating in special events designed to think deeply and critically about issues affecting urban schools and schooling.
