On-going Faculty Inquiry Projects
All faculty at the University of Pennsylvania are actively engaged in research that contributes to the fund of knowledge in their specific fields. Penn President Dr. Amy Gutmann inaugurated the Penn Compact, which has three foci: increasing access, integrating knowledge, and engaging both globally and locally. As part of the effort to integrate knowledge, Penn has established the web-based Scholarly Commons @Penn which is a repository for the scholarly output of researchers at the University of Pennsylvania. It promotes dissemination of their work, and preserves it in a freely-accessible, long-term archive. An effort to alleviate recent pressures to restrict access to new knowledge, ScholarlyCommons@Penn allows researchers and other interested readers anywhere in the world to learn about and keep up to date with Penn scholarship. Administered by the Penn Libraries, ScholarlyCommons@Penn contains materials chosen by participating units -- departments, schools, centers, institutes, and so forth -- at Penn. Users have access to materials in ScholarlyCommons@Penn free of charge. http://repository.upenn.edu/about.html
All Penn GSE faculty, including teacher education faculty, are engaged in research, often research that takes place in school communities and partners with teachers, parents, administrators and students in the schools. Partnership is a core value: we seek knowledge with the active participation of the participants. Indeed, we acknowledge and respect our partners for their deep knowledge of their schools, communities and institutions.
Below are listed some teacher education faculty along with links to their faculty web pages, which will give you a comprehensive understanding of the depth and breadth of faculty engagement with community and school partners:
